Tropical Glitz metal flakes are solvent-resistant and UV-resistant, and can be mixed into, for example, binder or clear coat. They are available in a wide range of colors and sizes and work equally well in both water-based and solvent-based systems.

Use

Mix the desired amount of metal flakes into a binder or clear coat. Apply the mixture over the chosen base color. For a more covering and intense effect, multiple layers can be applied. In that case, a binder is preferable to clear coat—remember to take evaporation times between layers into account.

Always finish with several layers of clear coat. Apply a few coats, let them dry, and lightly sand between coats (NOTE: Do not sand through down to the metal flakes—this will be visible in the final result). Then build up additional layers of clear coat to create a durable, high-gloss finish that truly highlights the shimmer.

Tropical Glitz metal flakes can be used on top of any base color. The final result will vary depending on the base color you choose. For maximum color depth, a darker base color than the flakes themselves is recommended.

Heat resistance: up to 180°C (350°F).

Amount: There is no fixed amount of metal flakes that must be used, but for about 50% coverage of a mid-size car, the manufacturer recommends approximately 350 g of metal flakes per liter of binder or clear coat.
